"Flower Confidential" in Oregonian Today
December 13, 2007
Blog PictureAmy Stewart's book "Flower Confidential" is recommended in today's Oregonian home and garden section as a possible gift book. Everyone in the floral industry should read it - very educational about how flowers are grown today, where most of them come from, and some interesting stories concerning the history of the "Star Gazer" lily and more.

Besides being informative it's a very entertaining book, and Amy Stewart is a flower lover so it's not an expose.

As a person with a company that grows flowers here in the U.S., I found it amazing to read about the developments in this business which have occurred mostly in the past 15 to 20 years.

I know that economics and prices drive business, but I also know that people, especially in Portland, Oregon, enjoy seeking out local products, so in spite of the gigantic industry in South America and Africa, Peterkort Roses is still a contender. We may be teensy compared with them, but we grow quality products. Beautiful roses!!

If you have found our web site via my blog, Peterkort Roses is a family-owned and operated flower growing company located in Oregon. We've been in business since 1923. We grow roses, sweetheart roses, spray roses, garden-style roses, Oriental and Asiatic lilies, holly, stephanotis, cymbidium, cattleya and paphiopedilum orchids, and maidenhair fern.
