Fresh Bouquet Book Authors Visit Portland Flower Market
December 12, 2010
Blog PictureDebra Prinzing and David Perry of Seattle were in the Portland Flower Market on Wednesday to check out the great fresh & local vibe we have going on for their new book, A Fresh Bouquet.

Debra has also written a book about garden structures, and edits the garden department of Better Homes & Gardens, plus she writes for the LA Times. David is a well-known photographer in the Seattle area.

After their tour of the market, plus lots of photos, they met with several florists and then had a tour out to Hillsboro of Peterkort Roses. That was a load of fun: David was climbing up on the tables in the grading room to get great shots (and amusing the workers) and Debra was asking lots of questions and taking it all in.

It was a fun day for me, they are total pros and I am really looking forward to seeing the book!

Visits & Tours
December 7, 2010
Blog PictureA busy month so far at the flower market, lots of visitors from out of town.

You read last month about Old Town Florist's visitor from Italy, a florist who did an exchange, coming here for a few weeks to learn about the U.S. flower business.

Then late last week an entourage of growers and florists from Seattle visited the Oregon Flower Growers to learn about how our grower's market works. They came for a tour and to meet with us, in preparation for possibly opening a wholesale grower's market of some type in Seattle.

Tomorrow we have a visit from a Seattle author who is working on a book about using local flowers. After touring the Flower Market, they are coming out to Hillsboro to tour Peterkort Roses.

All that and getting ready for Christmas too!
