Uncle Frank, along with his sister Lois Ditmars, and brothers Joe and Albert (our dad), operated the rose growing business after our grandparents retired in the early 1960's until Dad relocated it in the 1980's.
One of our customers related that her father, now 92, knew Frank and rode the school bus with him. Every day Frank was met by his mother with a satchel of food and a hoe. No slacking after school for him!
Uncle Frank knew how to have fun, too. He and our aunt Adelaide danced and played bridge, and they enjoyed travelling. They had four children, our cousins Betty, Jack, Bob and Carol.
The above picture shows Uncle Frank in his Army uniform during his service in World War II.
We'll miss you, Uncle Frank....
